Parents and Carers - Remote Learning 14/04/2020

April 14, 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Remote school will commence on Wednesday 15 April for all students.

During the week we will be contacting families who have indicated that they will have difficulty connecting to the internet and who require support with suitable devices. Over the last weeks the teachers have been working hard to prepare and be ready to start remote teaching.

The Department has stated that if students can learn from home they must stay at home. Some students may be able to be accommodated at school for some time under some circumstances.

Families requiring support must complete the On Site Attendance form each week (click on the link below). As staff will mostly be working from home, the school has limited capacity to provide supervision so it is important that we know in advance in order to provide adequate supervision. Students who are unwell must be kept at home. The Application must be submitted no later than 3pm pm Thursday of the week prior to when the attendance is required. The form must be completed each week.

Students will be undertaking the same on line learning as remote students so they need to bring their device with them. There will be no canteen or breakfast club. Students will be required at school no earlier than 8.45am and will finish at 3.10pm. Before and After School can be booked with Camp Australia. Social distancing rules will apply.

We suggest that you try to establish a routine that is similar to the school day by having your children ready to start at 9 am, dressed suitably and have equipment ready. Setting up a school space in your home will assist them to stay on task throughout the day. The teachers will be working on the same times as normal.

This is a huge challenge and we know that it will not always be perfect and that things will go wrong and mistakes will be made. Your teachers and support staff are doing their best to make this happen and to be effective, safe and consistent.

If we work together we should be able to celebrate our successes and learn from our failures. We will be placing updates on the school website including the On Site Attendance Form.
