Preparing for Learning from Home in response to COVID 19
MANORVALE PRIMARY SCHOOLPreparing for Learning from Home in response to COVID 19
End of Term
As you know the term 1 holidays will began tomorrow, earlier than expected. A number of events planned for this week will not be able to continue.
School may commence next term on Wednesday 15 April, 2020.
As far as possible all medicines have been returned to students to take home today. These include asthma puffers, epipens, tablets etc.
Children of essential service workers will be able to attend a care and supervision program at the school for the remainder of this week. Please contact the school if you need this service. Camp Australia will be running a Holiday Program from Monday March 30 to Wednesday April 8. You can contact Camp Australia on 1300 105 343.
Learning from Home
The school has been working hard to be prepared for the possibility that students may have to be learning from home, in line with any changes to the Chief Health Officer advice.
It is important that families begin preparing too. For learning from home to be accessible students will need to have internet access and a device. On Friday a note was sent home asking if your child will have internet access at home and if your child has a device to use.
Today staff have been calling families to gain this information.
If it is not possible for families to supply this for the children the school will still endeavour to provide materials.
A list of apps will be available on the website.
It is important that we have accurate details for contacting students and parents. An update sheet is attached. Compass has been updated to allow easy access to the parent portal.
We will place updates on the school website, SMS messaging and Compass. You can still contact the school by phone on 97416300 for the remainder of this week and next term you can email to email@example.com
Students who are feeling anxious and concerned can contact the school. Another valuable resource is Kids Helpline 1800551800
Thank you to all of our staff who have been working hard to support students at school and reassure them that everyone is working to keep us safe and scientists around the world are working hard to find a cure and vaccine.
We are also fortunate that we live where the health system and hospitals are very good and accessible to everyone.
